Simultaneous release of the corporate annual report in English and French.

Nova Chemical needed to complete the English version of the corporate annual report by the date of the investor’s meeting in order to present the year-end financial results. The French version of the report needed to be released and filed at the same time.

Approach

Attention to detail by the project management team and around-the-clock translations make it happen.

Files were translated into French starting from their draft stages, and continually updated every time the English version was revised. Revisions were coming in from multiple sources throughout the day and night.

Solution

International teamwork combined with technology allowed for time efficiencies.

• Teamwork. In addition to the dedicated project manager, two linguists worked on the documents along with one proofreader. Two typesetters handled desktop publishing tasks and one quality assurance specialist reviewed the files’ layout after the linguistic translation and editing were completed.
• Multiple time zones. To maximize the best use of time, the team members, who were located in various time zones, worked all available business hours.
• Technology. Fully developed translation memories and glossaries were used, to ensure consistency throughout the whole documentation process.
• Customer Satisfaction. The final delivery was on time with the satisfaction of the client.
